
Hanna Nessa Hurwitz received her Bachelors Degree and Performer’s Certificate from the Eastman School of Music under the guidance of Charles Castleman. Making her debut at age 11 as soloist with the Santa Barbara Symphony, Hanna has since played in front of numerous orchestras. Some highlights include performances at the Tchaikovsky Hall in Moscow and Glazunov Hall in St. Petersburg, Russia. She has held a substitute position with the New World Symphony, shared the stage with Anthony Marwood, Jennifer Culp, and Paul Hersh and has performed in masterclasses including those of Zvi Zeitlin, Peter Salaff, Norman Fischer and Schmuel Ashkenazi Hanna is a founding member and second violinist of the Aiana String Quartet, currently the Young Professional String Quartet in Residence at the University of Texas in Austin.
An active educator, Hanna has served on the faculty at the Los Angeles Music and Art School and at the Cornerstone Music Conservatory. As a strong believer in the performance of contemporary music, her recent activities have included performances in Mexico at the Cervantino Festival and the Festival Internacional Chihuahua, the SpazioMusica Festival in Italy and collaborations with the Garth Fagan Dance Company. Hanna is the featured violinist in the 2010 Bridge Records recording of music by Ricardo Zohn-Muldoon, and will appear on the Kleos-Helicon label in a 2012 release of music by Carlos Sanchez-Gutierrez. In her free time, Hanna enjoys playing chess, cooking, and bicycling.
