Mario Anton Andreu

Mario Anton Andreu obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Viola Performance with honors from the Barcelona Conservatory, under tutelage of Ashan Pillai.  After graduating, he was awarded a full tuition scholarship to study with renowned professor Donald McInnes at the USC Thornton School of Music.  In 2008, he completed his Graduate Certificate in Performance and in 2010 his Master's Degree with Honors. He has played under the baton of eminent conductors including Christopher Hogwood, Jeffrey Tate, Carl St. Clair, Fabio Biondi, Eiji Oue, John Williams, and Michael Tilson Thomas and has accompanied international soloists including Gil Shaham, Sarah Chang, Mischa Maisky, Steven Isserlis and Andre Watts. 

He has played as a substitute musician with the Barcelona Symphony, Murcia Symphony, “Pablo Sarasate” Symphony in Pamplona and Extremadura Symphony, in Spain. In addition, he has been admitted into the Real Filharmonía de Galicia and Euskadiko Orkestra (Basque Country). He was also a member of the Spanish Youth Orchestra for three years, acting as principal and was the principal violist of the YMF Debut Orchestra in Los Angeles.

Mr. Anton Andreu is an avid Chamber Music perfomer and has received instruction from the Emerson, Takács, Guarnieri, Ysaÿe, Casals and Brentano Quartets.  He has performed in concerts with the Tokyo String Quartet and with world-renowned violinist, Midori. For four years, he toured Spain extensively as a member of the Prisma String Quartet, first-prize winners of the prestigious Caja-Madrid Foundation Competition.  Also, he has participated in master classes with Nobuko Imai, Roland Vamos, Gérard Caussé, Bruno Giuranna, and Garth Knox. In 2009 he joined the Aiana String Quartet  performing in Colorado, California and France.
